The Under 9s made their longest trip of the league season on the final day to Stratford Town Colts, the last U9 team to defeat them, way back on 20th Sep 2020 (an amazing 17 games ago!). The game was played on a worn 3G AstroTurf and it took GNP some time to settle with passes/through balls often running out of pitch. The game then settled and became an exhilarating end to end spectacle. Captain Prabhvir was super assured as goalkeeper to keep a 1st half clean sheet, well supported by Cinar & Aarun in defence. The front 4 of Ayden, Arjun, Elio & Saavun were a constant threat, but did not break through until the 20 min mark, when an alert Ayden played a 1st time pass into the path of Arjun who finished to give GNP the lead. GNP then started the 2nd half strong, with Elio finishing clinically and high into the net after great work from Arjun. The Stratford no 9 got them back into the game almost immediately with a superb run & finish, and Stratford capitalised on a rare GNP mistake playing out from the back, to clinch an equaliser. Further chances came at both ends but the defences held firm, resulting in a draw. Our most recent signing, Iklil, earned MotM after another assured performance and improved distribution at right back.
An incredible season from the Under 9s who have been unbeatable after a rusty start. Congratulations!
