In our second game the U13s found ourselves playing back at memorial park after the recent godiva festival. Todays opponents were Bedworth United Rangers. After a slow start compared to last weeks game we found ourselves two nil ahead after thirteen minutes. First goal came after a run from the right from Riley and a cross which caused some confusion in the box. Goalie could not quite get the ball which bounced to Reis who duly dispatched for his first of the season. Second came after a shot from Riley which was more in hope than anything but somehow found the bottom corner. Both goals particularly pleasing as both Reis and Riley had shooting practice the day before. Two from from two for Riley.

Few more chances including a header missed from a corner in an open goal. After this it was the turn of our debutant Jacob to hit a purple patch and score two screamers in the 23rd and 30th minute to go in into half time for the second week running with a four nil lead. As per last week, early substitutions made with the message of keeping a clean sheet and to manage the second half.

All comfortable until the 44th minute when Bedworth managed to get one back. A consolation we thought but within eight minutes we found our lead reduced to one goal and the score 4 3. Panic setting in on the pitch and the side lines I decided only one option and to revert back to the first half line up. Ship steadied and a well deserved second from Reis followed by an absolute corker in the top corner from twenty yards from debutant Jacob near the end to complete his hattrick. Final scoreline 6 3.

Two positives to take out today’s game were 1. How we regained our composure after conceding three quick goals and 2. After a last minute tweak to our formation how the boys responded with some playing in new positions.

Special mentions this week go to Jacob, for his hattrick. Reis, for his first two goals of the season and three assists. Mane, for being referee and having to put up with what he has to. Finally Archie, for some great team spirit and coming along to watch his team whilst injured. Well done to all of the U13s again.
