Under 8 Panthers buzzing after performance of the season at Stratford Town!

SATURDAY - GIRLS

The Panthers Under 8s put on a stellar performance in their away match against Stratford, showcasing incredible team spirit from the very start. Every player played their part in securing a fantastic victory!
Mihar set the tone by opening the scoring with a brilliant low strike. Siya followed up with two powerful goals, while Jasmine netted a sublime finish from a tight angle, her first for the team! Lilly was a rock in defence but also pushed forward when needed. Jasika fought tirelessly, and Abigail made some outstanding saves in goal.
Parents and coaches beamed with pride at the team’s progress, their growing camaraderie, and the sheer determination they displayed on the pitch!

Under 10 Panthers played SoccerRockz in what proved to be one of their hardest fought battles all season. The match started off with speedy play up and down the pitch with SoccerRockz providing a stiff test. A hole in defence offered Soccer Rockz their first goal. The Panthers fought back with several attempts, finally successful with a great assist pass from Anya to Elizabeth who was in perfect position to beat the last defender and shoot firmly into the corner. Panthers came back again up the pitch with skilful play from Aish and Khloe, feeding Anya, who once again assisted another brilliant goal from Elizabeth. A fast paced, nail biting final few minutes of the half saw a goal mouth battle and an equalising goal for SoccerRockz.
The 2nd half saw both teams come out fighting. Both goalkeepers were kept busy and Poppy and her counterpart remained resolute, not letting any further attempts in.The match ended all square

Under 13 Panthers faced Coventry Godiva this week in a reverse fixture at Memorial park. The Panthers kept the ball in the opponent's half throughout the first half of the match with Nimrut opening the scoreline with her first goal for the team! Lizzie battled well each time the opposition tackled her, to win the ball back several times. With no subs, the Panthers battled through injury into the second half, which saw Mankirat score the first of her goals. Godiva came back with a goal but were quickly knocked back again by a great corner taken by Hannah, resulting in an own goal against them. Mankirat bagged a further 2 goals, with the opposition getting another 1 in return. The final goal came from Mankirat in the last minute for a fantastic finish.
After a few tough matches, the Panthers are back to their winning form, finishing 6-2!

Under 11 Panthers

SATURDAY - BOYS

GNP Lions Under 7s faced Brinklow Juniors, fresh off the back of two strong away performances and in confident mood. The Lions started strongly, dominating possession, and forcing Brinklow to defend deep for long periods.Thomas made the breakthrough with a driving solo run and shot! With confidence high, Kiaan played a great pass into space, finding Theo, who finished clinically. Just before half-time, GNP won a free kick, and up stepped Theo, scoring his third free kick in consecutive games – an impressive record! Second Half, Dhillon brought energy and determination up front, scoring a fantastic hat-trick to reward the team’s hard work and link-up play. Despite the scoreline, Brinklow’s goalkeeper was outstanding, making some brilliant saves on the day. Brinklow showed their resilience, growing into the game and scoring three well-worked goals, as GNP tired in the final minutes. The Lions continued to fight hard, and Jagraaj, who had worked tirelessly down the right flank, finally got the goal he deserved. A Fantastic Display of Football - GNP Lions have truly come a long way, and their growth and confidence continue to shine. Player of the Match: Dhillon

Under 8 Pumas were at home against Hilmorton Warriors. Our boys got off to a fabulous start, scoring a few goals in the opening minutes. However, we tried to keep pushing and, as the opposition had an extra player on the pitch due to the power play, we lost our shape and conceded a number of goals in quick succession. In addition, they had a full squad which meant they could rotate the squad with fresher legs. Thankfully we regrouped in the final quarter and held on for a draw, which was a fair result for the end-to-end action. Kishan scored another goal from a set piece; Aarush scored another brace; and hat-trick hero Jeevan’s work-rate saw him pick up the player-of-the-match award!

GNP Under 8 Lions were away at Bedworth United Greenbacks In what was a very competitive and heated game. Greenbacks took the early lead in the game. But Lions equalised quickly. It was a pretty even first half of the game with scores tied. A goal from Arthur assisted by Aaron followed by a goal from Louie kept GNP in the game and gave them hope till the end. It was all square till the very last minute of the game but Greenbacks hit a late winner following a Kick in and it ended in the favour of Bedworth. Overall good display by lions with Sam and Harnam putting in a strong defensive shift! Really good performance by the boys in a very competitive game.

GNP Sports Jaguars Under 8s visited Racing Club Warwick and began the game brightly and with purpose, creating 3 or 4 chances that they were unable to take. The Jaguars pressed but unfortunately conceded the first goal midway through the first half. As the game progressed Warwick began to dominate the game and unfortunately chances for the Jaguars came few and far between. It was a tough game in the end for the Jaguars who saw an 11 game unbeaten streak come to an end. Time to start another run then.....

Under 8 Tigers

Claverdon FC were hosting GNP Tigers Under 12s who’ve hit fine form of late. GNP didn’t waste any time flying out the blocks and taking a strong 2 goal lead through Josiah and Muhamadou adding a fine third. Claverdon fought back in the second half with 2 goals of their own however, GNP's intense pressure was too much with further goals from Harjan, Muhamadou and 2 more goals from Player of the match, Josiah. Final score 7-2.

SUNDAY - BOYS

Out-of-form Under 13 Tigers visited in-form Warwick Juniors Rangers but it proved to be a highly competitive fixture. GNP probably edged the first half with Daniel & Cinar regularly exploiting the space down the right with Ehan to create chances. The closest we came to a goal was when Daniel worked the corner of the pitch before delivering a dangerous cross which seemed to flash across the goal line with no-one there to tap in at the back post. 2nd half followed a similar pattern but Warwick broke the deadlock after 2 needless free kicks in quick succession led to the 2nd being expertly dispatched in the top near corner past Wiktor's despairing dive. Some positional changes saw Iklil move into midfield and Emmanuel go up front. Ehan did some great work in the far corner to beat his man and cross to the near post where Emmanuel diverted the ball home for his first ever competitive goal! The boys pushed for a winner with 2 more efforts from Saavun & Emmanuel flashing across the face of the goal. Unfortunately the dominant Warwick midfielder stole the game away in the closing 5 minutes with a virtuouso run from left wing across the pitch before finishing confidently in the far corner for the game to finish 2-1. Unlucky for the Tigers this time out!

Under 13 Lions had to reverse their fixture to Exhall's pitch due to Finham being unplayable. The afternoon saw weather conditions deteriorate with a blustery wind and increasing rain. The GNP lads decided to play with the strong wind at their backs 1st half and took early advantage when Max's low, hard corner kick was diverted into his own net by the Exhall defender. However the boys failed to capitalise on the conditions with Exhall scoring two in quick succession to take the lead. Mario was released several times down the left by Max but failed to settle himself before shooting, meaning some good chances went begging. With the wind against them 2nd half, the game became more difficult. Exhall added a 3rd when a long speculative effort was spilled at the foot of the attacker whose rebound effort was given as a goal despite him being stood offside for the original strike. Just when it looked like the game was slipping away, Filip and Max worked together to give GNP a boost, Max with several searching through balls and Filip with some powerful and penetrative runs through the middle. This exact combination led to GNP's 2nd goal, an excellent effort from Player of the Match Filip! The boys tails were up, but not for long, when the scorer of the 3rd goal added the 4th, this time from a strong run and finish after rounding our keeper, Caleb. Final score was 2-4 and definitely lots of scope for improvement from the boys, albeit with several players absent.

Under 12 Pumas hosted Mount Nod in horrendous conditions, Pumas missing a number of players in key positions. JJ started the first half in goal, pulling off several great stops but was unlucky with the Mount Nod first, Pumas defence unable to clear the ball allowing the away forward to poach the ball and slip into the back of the net. Pumas spent the entire first half camped out in their own half battling a very strong wind. Mount Nod added a 2nd before half time. With the wind behind the Pumas it was Mount Nod's turn to have their backs against the wall to begin with. GNP created several chances but were unable to finish. A mistake by the defence allowed Mount Nod to get their 3rd and secure the win. 2nd half saw GNP tire in the difficult conditions against a team who were 3rd in the league and had a full subs bench to call on. Casper and Aiden shared goal keeper duties between them in the 2nd half and were called into action on numerous occasions with some fine saves to keep the Pumas within reach.

Under 11 Lions opened up their Spring trophy event campaign against Bedworth Utd (from tier 1). The Lions more than held their own in windy conditions and had the better of the first half, but could not find the back of the net, despite creating numerous good opportunities and giving nothing away at the back - goalless at half time. 2nd half, it was much of the same and a very even game. Bedworth took the lead with one of very few opportunities they created. As the Lions pushed forward to find an equaliser, they conceded a 2nd late on. Overall, a very pleasing performance and the boys can hold their heads high. Player of the match went to Ryan McDermott for his tireless running and skilful play.

Copsewood played GNP Under 11 Pumas, also in Trophy Event action. The Pumas started the game very well taking the lead through Lekan. They kept on pushing and were rewarded by a neat pass by Shivan, setting up a well taken goal by Lekan. Then against the run of play Copsewood pulled one back. The second half started off pretty even, but then a goal by Copsewood levelled the game. A superb individual gaol by Lekan meant GNP were leading again. Copsewood seemed to lift their game and scored 2 quick goals and had it not been for Sam, who made some amazing saves, the scoreline could have ended a lot worse. GNP tried to level the game but ran out of time and unfortunately lost a good, close game.

Under 9 Tigers hosted Cov Sphinx (from a tier higher) in their first Trophy Event game. Evenly matched for the first 10 minutes before a couple of unforced errors saw the Tigers fall a couple of goals behind heading into half time. The second half didn’t bring GNP any further luck either with the opposition being able to intercept passes easily. Cov Sphinx capitalised and scored a few more goals on a morning to forget for the boys
