The end of the league season for our boys teams this weekend, and we saw many of our teams finish it on a high! Well done again to everyone!
SATURDAY - GIRLS
Under 13 Panthers were up against Stratford Town Girls away from home. Evenly matched for the first 15 minutes before Stratford scored the opener, catching the Panthers on the break. Panthers were then awarded an indirect free kick for a back pass. Enya passed across to Mankirat who slotted it in to equalise. Maya and Avani defended well with Ekham nearly grabbing a goal herself with a long range effort. With it being 1-1 at half time, the Panthers conceded early in the 2nd half. Orna kept the Panthers in it with quick movement off the line. It wasn’t long before Hannah equalised to make it 2-2. This was only after it was originally flagged for offside but the referee took the decision to review VAR(!) and overruled it! The Panthers then conceded a penalty after some scrappy defending. Stratford hit the crossbar, letting the Panthers off. With only a few minutes left, the Panthers conceded again. The fighting spirit came to the fore with everyone pushing forward and the girls equalised into stoppage time forcing an own goal from a dangerous corner for it to finish 3-3! A superb team effort and highlights the great team spirit the Panthers now have.
Under 14 Panthers lost 2-5 at home to Leamington Lions. 3 defensive errors in the first half gave the Panthers a mountain to climb even though they had most of the play. A foul on Mekenna in the area resulted in a penalty that Saffron dispatched sweetly into the bottom corner. The second half started the same way that the first half ended with the Panthers dominating play. A great through ball found Kia on the edge of the area who beat her marker and unleashed a ferocious shot that found the bottom corner of the keeper’s near post. The Panthers were then caught out by two attacking breaks and came away with no points when they deserved at least one.
SATURDAY - BOYS
The Under 8 Pumas played at home against Coventrians Phoenix in our last match of the season. We got off to a good start with a goal from Guransh and then a long-range effort from Aarush. After half time, we let the opposition back into the game by conceding a goal. However, we didn’t drop our heads and went on the attack, with another goal by Guransh and a brace from Dayal. It was an emphatic win to end the season on a high. We’ve had a great 2025 and are proud of how far all of the boys have come - bring on next season!
Under 8 Lions played an excitement-filled end of season match against Southam United. It was an intense and exciting match with a lot of goals scored by both teams. The boys stayed strong during the first ten minutes, with the boys keeping on level terms. Sam broke the deadlock in the 2nd quarter with a goal as their defence withered. This brought the fire power from both teams with many goals scored by both sides. As the momentum reduced so did the goals from both sides leading to a well-deserved draw. A special well done to Arthur for scoring four goals and Louie for his contribution to the scoreboard. The boys can truly hold their heads high for a great game and more importantly, having fun throughout the season.
Under 7 Tigers ended their season on a high with a solid performance away to Panjab Athletic. GNP took an early lead with our prolific goal scorer Aron scoring another magnificent goal in the opening few minutes. Panjab Athletic fought back with them capitalising on several chances. Trailing in the game GNP increased the pressure, creating more chances and tightening up defensively. With the team pressing we managed to win a corner. From the set piece, Joban's delivery into the box was deflected, hitting the back of the net for an own goal. Lucas then followed up to score after Aron's shot was dropped by the PA keeper. Following some further changes on field, Sahib and Taran caused our opposition challenges all over the pitch. Defensively, Rhys, Rayan and Tobias minimised Panjab's further advances forcing our opponents to make errors. Some excellent goalkeeping on display from Lucas, Tobias and Taran was fantastic to see. A truly exciting match to watch from start to finish. The U7s have had a great first season together. They have enjoyed playing football, improving their skills and have formed what will be long lasting friendships.
Under 7 Lions last game of the season brought in a full crowd and a full team against Vision. It was a brisk Saturday morning but the Lions were fully ready to end the season on a high. The 1st half was end to end with Thomas making some great saves, diving to his right tipping the ball past the post a few times to keep the Lions in the game. Quick thinking by Dhillan from a kick in saw him advance and beat the keeper at his near post, giving the Lions the lead. Vision found themselves back in the game quickly after. Theo showed great energy down the left wing beating players and getting his shots off early and trying to create chances for his team mates. Jagraaj showed aggression down the right wing tracking back and helping out the defence, making some last ditch tackles. Elliott was solid at the back always trying to play the ball to our striker also driving with the ball at every opportunity. Kiaan came on and showed quick feet in trying get the Lions the lead, and tracked back to help the team. Dev was a stand out player he did not stop running the whole time on the pitch he made tackle after tackle. Luca showed some great foot work skipping past players to try create chances for the Lions. Unfortunately Vision managed to score on the counter in the last 5 mins of the game. Coaches & Parents couldn’t be prouder of these boys - the first season of football for all of them and they have shown great attitude and a never give up mentality!
SUNDAY - BOYS
GNP Tigers Under 14s vs Dallas Burston. Last game of the season and the boys went out with a bang and won 4-1. They started well and scored early, but Dallas scored and leveled it up. It stayed as a stalemate for the first half and carried on the same for the opening period of the 2nd half. But the last 20 mins the boys moved up a gear and scored 3 more goals. Well done to Jeevan, Manveer and Max (2) for super goals and Jeevan, Manveer & Howan for delivering great balls.
Under 13 Tigers hosted Chapelfields Colts Lionesses in their final league game of the season on a superb run of form. The game started really well. Aarun Shoker's inswinging corner on 6 minutes was dropped by the keeper; as the defence tried to clear, Ehan was on hand to react quickly and dispatch the ball back into the net. Just 4 minutes later, Harshaan (back in midfield today), found a cute pass inbetween the lines to Muhamadou who stunned the Lionesses with his electric feet, he skipped past 2, then 3 players and then rounded the keeper for a trademark solo goal. Cinar was again in superb form down the right with his superb skill in 1v1 situations and dangerous crosses, whilst Aaron Dhaliwal put in an industrious and creative performance up front linking up play with the midfield and wide players. GNP were unable to add any more goals in the 1st half. 6 minutes into the 2nd half, Cinar swung in a dangerous corner - the reverse whip on the ball caught out the keeper, who in trying to punch the ball away, only diverted it into the back of the net. Despite camping out in the Chapelfields half for most of the remainder of the game, no further goals were scored. Saavun hit the bar with a delicious chip, Harman Sangha's goal was ruled out for offside and Iklil and Muhamadou both had strong shots well saved by the goalie. Emmanuel was awarded PotM for his high pressing from wing back and attacking drive from that position. 7 wins out of 8 in the league for GNP to finish their league season in style - unfortunately it still left them 4 points short of automatic promotion but very promising signs for next season as the squad looks to improve and go again.
Under 12 Pumas put in a very average performance against CTK. CTK took the lead midway through the 1st half courtesy of an own goal by the Pumas. The GNP keeper was rarely tested in the 1st half. Better start in the 2nd half by the Pumas, with Casper scoring an equaliser for GNP. This settled the team and they soon took control of the game. They went on to have a goal disallowed, and also missed a penalty. In the end the Pumas finished their first season in competitive league football with a 1-1 draw and a mid-table 6th position in the league.
Under 11 Lions were away against Cov Jag. It was a good game of football with both teams looking to play out from the back and with a high press. The Lions had the best of the opening 20 minutes, playing some great pass and move football. On a rare breakaway, Cov Jag took an unexpected lead with a great strike on the corner of the box. The Lions were punished for missing a number of opportunities and trailed at the half time break. 2nd half and a few tactical changes, the Lions came roaring out with 2 quickfire goals from Kyle, giving a deserved lead to the Lions. The Lions continued to spurn a number of good opportunities and were punished with another breakaway goal. The game ended all square, a good end to the season with the Lions ending it with 3 wins and 2 draws to cement their tier 2 status for next season. Athrv was man of the match for a commanding performance, going forward and getting back.
Under 11 Tigers were in action in the last game of the season against Rugby Borough Tigers. GNP played some great football but just could not find the finish when it was needed today. The first half dominated by GNP, but they got caught on the break on one if their many attacking drives and Rugby took the lead. 2nd half saw more of the same but GNP missed a few chances. Rugby increased their lead before Tigers pulled a consolation goal back through Shaan. In the end, a defeat but the performance deserved much more. Well done Tigers - a proud performance and some great football at times.
Under 10 Tigers played their final match away against Rugby Borough Foxes. Tigers started on the front foot and it seemed only a matter of time until they opened the scoring. A few chances went by until finally a clever pass from Sohan played in Harry who neatly finished. Harry then quickly added a second, Sohan assisting again. Nathaniel added a third after winning possession high up the pitch. The Tigers were seemingly cruising but then they were caught off guard with a quick counter attack. In the second half the Tigers added to their goals, Harry completing another hat trick, Birat scoring from a dangerous Dharam corner and Akaalvir scoring the goal of match, finding the top corner from long range. A great performance with 4 different goal scorers!
The Under 9 Tigers were up against Hawkesmill in their final league game of the season. They got off to a nightmare start conceding 2 goals within 4 minutes. This kickstarted them into action and saw them play some of the most fluent football of the season. Arveer played in defence and gave the team a completely different dynamic as he was able to press and track back seemingly at the same time. The midfield passing between Veer and Rajan saw an opportunity for Josiah to latch onto a pass and score. This was then followed up with another by Josiah as the teams headed into half time even. Arveer continued to drive the game forward from defence, determined to bag a goal after having 3 shots on goal previously. He scored with a long range effort, taking the Tigers into the lead. Joban battled well on the wing along with Salman. Rivan with his consistent professional performance as a defender earned himself the Player of the Match award. With the game not quite won, Josiah stepped up to score another and seal his hat trick which was well deserved. Ollie had another blinder of a game with his safe hands. It was his kick though which earned him an assist for Veer to latch onto! A superb end to the season with the team displaying plenty of resilience to comeback from 2-0 down & prevail!
